- Hajra Patel: Meet our founder. At the core of Hajra Patel Audiology’s compassionate and innovative approach to hearing care stands our founder, Hajra Patel. A distinguished alumna of Wits University, Hajra earned her Bachelor of Audiology with flying colors, distinguishing herself as one of the top students and a proud member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. Her academic journey was marked by excellence and a deep-rooted passion for making a difference, as evidenced by her graduation with distinctions.
- Hajra’s commitment to audiology goes beyond the clinic walls. She has a profound dedication to research, particularly focused on serving underserved rural communities. Her undergraduate research in the Vhembe District of Limpopo is a testament to this commitment. Her work there not only won her the runner-up position at the prestigious AB Clemons Research Presentation but also showcased her unwavering passion for enriching the lives of those less fortunate and giving back to the community. Today, she is fervently expanding her research to make even greater impacts.
- Leadership has been a defining trait of Hajra’s character since her university days, where she served as a class representative. In this role, she thrived by empowering her peers, assisting them in their needs, and effectively liaising with lecturers and other university staff. Her ability to lead, inspire, and connect with others has been a cornerstone of her professional and personal life.
- Hajra’s linguistic abilities are as diverse as her skills, being Fluent in English, Gujarati, Tshivenda, Urdu, Hindi, and trained in South African Sign Language. This multilingual proficiency not only enhances her ability to connect with a broader spectrum of patients but also reflects her deep respect for the rich tapestry of cultures and communities in South Africa.
